Bed Bug Treatment Prep Directions

Proper preparation is essential for successful treatment. Please complete as many steps as you are physically able before your appointment.

Prior to technician arrival:

  • 1 Strip all beds completely.
  • 2 Empty items from dressers, night stands, end tables, and similar furniture.
  • 3 Remove all items found on the floor and underneath the beds.
  • 4 Remove and wash all pet bedding.
  • 5 Bedding, linens, clothing, and other dryer-safe items can be placed in a clothes dryer on high heat before running through a normal wash cycle then place them in a sealable plastic bag or tightly secured garbage bag.
  • 6 Other items can be placed in a sealable plastic or tightly secured garbage bag. Remove as many items as possible for an effective treatment.
  • 7 Clear everything from on, under, and behind furniture. Place items on tables or desks - not chairs.
  • 8 Place all sealed or secured plastic bags in an area that will not restrict access to infested rooms.
  • 9 Remove wall switch and outlet plates so these areas can be treated.
  • 10 Cover fish tanks and turn off aerators.
  • 11 Remove or seal all exposed food.
  • 12 New mattresses or furniture should NOT be purchased until after the infestation has been eliminated.

During and After Treatment

  • Everyone, including pets, must leave during treatment and remain out for at least 4 hours afterward, unless your technician gives different instructions.
  • After treatment, continue sleeping in the same area where you slept before treatment. This helps draw bed bugs out of hiding and prevents them from spreading to other areas.

Follow Treatments

Bed bug infestations may require multiple treatments. The customer is responsible for scheduling follow-up appointments. If bed bug activity remains 14 days after treatment, an additional treatment will be required and charged separately.
