Pest management professionals (PMPs) from Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and New Mexico gathered at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., for the third annual Termite Academy.

The joint venture between the Indiana Pest Management Association (IPMA) and BASF brought attendees together for a full day of both classroom and field experience. The event was held at the Purdue Structural Pest Control Facility and featured different structural components that technicians may encounter in their work.

Adrian Culpepper and Dr. Jason Meyers, both of BASF, as well as Paul Bello, ACE, BCE, PJB Pest Consulting & Education, Alpharetta, Ga., presented on topics of equipment calibration, bait station placement, application techniques, best practices and product stewardship. They were assisted by Phillip Patrie, Reliable Exterminators, Lafayette, Ind.

Culpepper has been with BASF since 2014, and is currently a pest control field representative for Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and West Virginia.

Dr. Meyers has worked with BASF since 2008, and serves as a market development specialist. He holds degrees from Missouri State University, University of Arkansas and a doctorate from Texas A&M University.

Bello earned a bachelor’s degree in entomology from the University of Georgia, as well as a master’s degree in accounting from Adelphi University. He also has more than 46 years of experience in the pest control industry as a business owner and educator.

The Indiana Pest Management Association (IPMA) is a not-for-profit organization that promotes education and training for those in the pest control industry. Each year, the IPMA provides scholarships to students in an institute of higher learning. The scholarships include the Steve Durnil Indiana Pest Management Association Family Scholarship, the Indiana Pest Management Association Memorial Scholarship and the Duane Edwards/Arab Pest Control Scholarship.
